Ozarkiana as a word can be described as similar to Americana-- "things associated with the culture and history of the Missouri and Arkansas Ozarks".
But more than that-- Ozarkiana is a celebration of the soul of the Ozarks, where the rugged beauty, rich traditions, and enduring spirit of these ancient hills comes to life. Just as the word Americana captures the essence of the broader American experience, Ozarkiana distills the unique life, culture, land, and history of the Ozarks into a singular, evocative concept. It's a tribute to the people that "can't abide hearing their neighbor's axe", and settled into the deep hollers and small towns of this storied region ages ago.

At the heart of our brand, we are storytellers, weaving the timeless tales of the Ozarks into every design we create. Each piece is a canvas, painted with the hues of the regions legendary past and vibrant present. From picking on the porch, to watching an eagle soar above the Buffalo River, our work is inspired by the moments that define this land-- The distant call of a whippoorwill at dusk, the quiet resilience of the ancient hills.

We believe in honoring the legacy of those who came before us—the pioneers and settlers who carved a life from these mountains. Their craftsmanship, reverence for the land, and unyielding spirit are the foundation of our brand. Through our designs, we strive to keep their stories alive, ensuring that the spirit of the Ozarks endures for generations to come. Every piece is a tangible connection to a place where history and heritage are not just remembered but lived.

The history of the Ozarks is far more than a simple tale of banjos and trout fishing—it’s a narrative woven with hardship and endurance. Events like the Dust Bowl, which devastated agriculture with drought and erosion, the Civil War, which tore communities apart, and persistent economic downturns tested the region’s people time and again. Yet, through it all, the residents of the Ozarks have proven remarkably resilient, shaping a culture forged in the fire of adversity. Our website and designs pay tribute to this legacy by incorporating public domain photographs by John Vachon and Ben Shahn, sourced from the Library of Congress Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information Black-and-White Negatives. These striking images offer a window into the tougher moments of Ozarks history, and by weaving them into our work, we honor those who came before us, acknowledging the blood, sweat, and tears that built the region we know today.

Greetings! I’m B.T. Johnson, born and raised in the heart of the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. These rugged hills, with their deep hollers and cold springs, are more than my home—they’re the legacy of my family, deeply rooted in the very earth beneath us. I've lived and travelled all over the Ozarks. From a young age, I’ve been captivated by the rich history and traditions of these mountains, a heritage that feels as enduring as the streams carving through them. There’s a way of life here—authentic, vibrant, and profound—that I’ve always been driven to preserve.

As a young man, I immersed myself in the Ozarks’ storied past, participating in Civil War reenactments, historical dances, and sharing tales at local museums. My passion for craftsmanship, particularly in blades and firearms, has always burned bright. During my college years, I refined my expertise at the Mountain Outfitters knife shop in Branson, Missouri, where the spirit of the Ozarks thrives. There, I honed my knowledge of knife-making—though the forge remained just out of reach—while spending my free moments exploring the oak and hickory-clad ridges and valleys that define this land. This is the life I’m proud to lead, grounded in the enduring legacy of those who shaped these mountains before us.

Now, through B. T. Johnson Knives, and our clothing design brand, Ozarkiana, I am proud to finally be able to offer products designed for those who truly appreciate the spirit of the Ozarks in the way that I always will.

Thank you for your business!
